About this piece
The ring format suits a bay built of tributaries. The Susquehanna feeds in at the top, the Patapsco, Severn, Patuxent, and Potomac reach in from the western shore, the Chester, Choptank, and Nanticoke from the Eastern Shore, and the deep channel threads between them while the hands sweep around it. It reads as sculpture first and clock second, which is the correct order for a wall piece.
Right for an Annapolis sailor, an Eastern Shore porch, or a kitchen that measures summer in crab feasts.
The full bay in stacked depth layers hangs as the Chesapeake Bay 3D chart.

How the water becomes wood
The face is the water itself.
Chesapeake Bay laser-cut in birch with a hand-stained water layer beneath, contours and place names burned into the surface, and a quiet quartz movement keeping regular hours.
A clock people actually look at.
Kitchen, office, cottage or boathouse: it reads as a map first and a clock second. One AA battery, ready to hang.
