About Us
Our Story
Some places stay with you. The lake where you spent every summer. The harbor you sailed out of at dawn. The stretch of coast that still feels like home.
Nautical Lake Art began with a simple idea: that the waters we love deserve a place on the wall, rendered with the same care and detail as the memories they hold.
Every piece we make is handcrafted and laser-cut from Baltic birch, a wood prized for its fine grain, strength, and warmth. Working from real bathymetric data, we translate the depths, shorelines, and contours of each body of water into layered, three-dimensional relief. The result isn't a print or a poster. It's a faithful, tactile map of a real place, built layer by layer to capture the way the water actually falls away beneath the surface.
That precision is the point. A coastline is unmistakable in its shape; a lake bottom is as distinct as a fingerprint. We've charted more than 195 waters: lakes, bays, sounds, and coastlines across the country and beyond. Each one is rendered to be accurate enough that you can trace the channels you know by heart.
Because every map is made to order and finished by hand, no two are exactly alike, just like the places they celebrate. Grain, depth, and detail come together into a piece meant to be looked at closely and kept for years.
