Puget Sound in the UV series: the inland sea of the Pacific Northwest in laser-cut, hand-stained Baltic birch, with its islands, passages, and port cities UV-printed across the top layer.

The Sound is a fjord system in plain sight, carved by ice and dropping past 900 feet in places, deeper than most of the open coast. Ferries stitch it together in the largest ferry system in the country, orcas work its channels, and the cities stack along its eastern shore from Tacoma through Seattle to Everett. The staining reads like the water itself: dark, cold blues through the deep main basin and Colvos Passage, paler tones over the mudflats and bays where the tide goes out for half a mile.

With no acrylic cover, the maze of islands sits bare under your hand, Vashon and Whidbey and Bainbridge each a shape you can find by feel. The printing carries the dense geography engraving could not fit.
