The seawall rings Stanley Park's peninsula, the Lions Gate Bridge spans the First Narrows where Canada's busiest port traffic squeezes through, False Creek carries its little rainbow ferries beneath the towers, and the beaches at Kits and Spanish Banks empty toward flats so wide the tide seems to leave town entirely. On the chart, Burrard Inlet's engraved channels wrap the downtown peninsula while the Fraser's arms fan south, the whole amphibious city plan legible in birch.
