The Keys trail off the tip of Florida like a sentence that refuses to end, ancient coral and limestone islands strung between the Gulf and the Atlantic, sheltering the only living coral barrier reef in the continental United States along their ocean side. The Overseas Highway ties them together across more than forty bridges, including the Seven Mile Bridge, one of the longest over open water anywhere. On the map, the staining splits the two waters the way locals do: bayside flats in pale bonefish gold, oceanside deepening past the reef line into true blue.
