North Carolina's Outer Banks, printed and layered in the UV series: hand-stained Baltic birch cut to the true line of the barrier islands, with the towns, lighthouses, and inlets UV-printed in fine detail.

Nowhere else does the map itself look this improbable: a thin ribbon of sand arcing far off the mainland, with Pamlico Sound spread shallow and enormous behind it and the open Atlantic pressing from the east. Cape Hatteras elbows out into the shipping lanes above Diamond Shoals, which is why its black-and-white spiral lighthouse became the most famous on the coast, and why the waters offshore earned the name Graveyard of the Atlantic. The staining maps it plainly, sound-side golds against ocean-side blues, the islands a bright cut line between two different waters.

No acrylic sits over the UV series, so the ribbon of islands stays touchable end to end, and the printing carries detail down to the village names.
