Costa Rica runs saltwater on both sides of the pura vida. The Pacific coast does the heavy lifting for surfers, Guanacaste's dry-season points, the Nicoya Peninsula's beach towns, and far south at Pavones one of the longest left-breaking waves on the planet, while the Osa Peninsula wraps Corcovado's wild shore around Drake Bay. The Caribbean side answers with Puerto Viejo's reef break and sloth-paced sand. Between the coasts, the chart's engraved bays and gulfs, Papagayo, Nicoya, Dulce, hold the anchorages and the sportfishing grounds that fill the marinas at Los Sueños and Quepos.
